Seleri joins MOUZ to lead rebuild, attempt to qualify for Esports World Cup

Can Seleri lead MOUZ to the same heights he once reached as the captain of Gaimin Gladiators?

Decorated Dutch Dota 2 professional player Melchior “Seleri” Hillenkamp has announced the next chapter of his career, as he now joins German organisation MOUZ as the team’s position 5 support player and captain. The move comes three weeks after his departure from his old teamGaimin Gladiators, ending a remarkable three-year run with the three-time Major-winning organisation.

MOUZ welcomed Seleri with a playful sketch, celebrating the arrival of the accomplished player who has multiple championships under his belt. However, he joins the team amid a roster rebuild, with MOUZ currently fielding only one signed player in Nikko “Force” Bilocura.

Seleri will also reunite with a former Gaimin Gladiators teammate in coach Moza “Immortal.faith” Daniel, who coached the team in 2022.

MOUZ’s Dota 2 roster is as follows:

  1. TBD
  2. TBD
  3. Nikko “Force” Bilocura
  4. TBD
  5. Melchior “Seleri” Hillenkamp
  6. Moza “Immortal.faith” Daniel (coach)

25-year old Seleri is best known for leading Gaimin Gladiators to one of the most dominant runs in the history of Dota 2, during which the team won all three Majors in 2023 and achieved consecutive runner-up placements at The International (TI) in 2023 and 2024. Under Seleri’s leadership, the Gladiators cemented their place as one of the most consistent and dominant squads in Dota 2 history.

But as is often the case with all great runs, Gaimin Gladiators eventually hit a rough patch. After TI 2024 ended, they competed in several qualifiers but struggled with inconsistent and mainly subpar results. This led to Seleri stepping away from the active roster due to burnout, and eventually, leaving the team altogether.

Surprisingly, fans will be seeing a different Seleri as he dons red for his next challenge, joining MOUZ, a name best known for their presence in Counter-Strike esports. The Dutch player will team up with Force, a Filipino offlaner who has played for various Tier 2 teams like Execration and Geek Fam as well as Seleri’s former team, Team Tickles.

MOUZ to assemble a team for Esports World Cup

Over the past few months, MOUZ has struggled to assemble a promising lineup, even bringing in known players like Tal “Fly” Aizik and Rodrigo “Lelis” Santos to compete in Tier 1 qualifiers and Tier 2-3 events. Despite these efforts, the team has continued to shuffle its roster and trialed more players as results remained bleak.

With MOUZ’s decisive acquisition of Seleri, the team is now positioning itself for its next major objective: this year’s Dota 2 Riyadh Masters in the 2025 Esports World Cup. Seleri will lead this developing roster as they aim to qualify for the US$3 million event, set to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from 7 to 20 July 2025.

The Esports World Cup will feature 16 teams, four of which are already confirmed. Gaimin Gladiators will be attending as the defending champions while PARIVISIONTeam Falcons, and Team Spirit have all earned sufficient ESL Pro Tour (EPT) points for a direct invite.
