Falcons officially confirm m0NESY signing
Falcons have completed the signing of Russian superstar Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov from G2, the Saudi organization confirmed on Monday. The 19-year-old will fill the void created by the benching of compatriot Abdul “degster” Gasanov, who helped the team win its first-ever trophy over the weekend.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but according to a report from Guillaume ‘neL’ Rathier, Falcons likely had to break the CS transfer record to sign the Russian AWPer, who had eight months left on his contract with G2.
On Falcons, m0NESY will reunite with his former G2 teammate Nikola “NiKo” Kovač. They won six trophies together between January 2022 and December 2024, when the Bosnian star left G2 and signed with the Saudi organization.
Signed from Natus Vincere in a reported $600,000 deal, m0NESY established himself as one of the best players in the world during his G2 tenure. He made every HLTV Top 20 Player of the Year ranking between 2022 and 2024 and was a finalist for the Player of the Year award in 2024 but lost out to Danil “donk” Kryshkovets.
m0NESY’s arrival signals the ambition of the Saudi organization, which has spared no expense to build a title contender, signing a full core from HEROIC in December in addition to NiKo.
Falcons’ efforts were finally rewarded on Sunday, when the team lifted its first-ever trophy after beating G2 in the grand final of PGL Bucharest.
m0NESY will make his Falcons debut in just a week as the team will face SAW in the group stage of IEM Melbourne, where they will enter the tournament as one of the favorites.
After Melbourne, Falcons will also attend BLAST Rivals (April 30-May 4) and IEM Dallas (May 19-25). This run of events will give the team some time to gel before the Austin Major, Falcons’ main target of the season.
